MARTHA WAINWRIGHT SINGS PIAF

A matchless match, a critically acclaimed project: celebrated Canadian folk artist Martha Wainwright sings passionate French legend Edith Piaf.

Daughter of folk musicians Loudon Wainwright III and Kate MacGarrigle, Martha Wainwright is poet-singer Rufus Wainwright's sister, and frequently appears in the albums of family members. Debuting in 2005 with her eponymous studio album, Martha quickly drew attention in Canada and later in Europe. Edith Piaf, in the meanwhile, has always been one of Wainwright's role models in singing. Montreal-born Wainwright learned French at school and was inspired by Piaf's passionate, heart-rending, painful style and emotional prowess, listening to the French legend since she was 8.
